THE BOHEMIAN PARADISE is the region located in the north-eastern part of the Czech Republic, nearly 100 km from Prague and 40 km from the nearest ski resorts of the Giant Mountains.
It is really picturesque landscape with a unique nature, historic sights and with ideal conditions for hiking and cyclotouring.
Spa guests of Lázně Sedmihorky - particularly Czech writers of 19th century - started to call this region "Bohemian Paradise".
The Bohemian Paradise was the first area of the Czechoslovakia that was proclaimed Protected Scenic District (1955).
The town of Jičín has its undeniable magic, thanks to the Czech writer Václav Čtvrtek and his fairy-tale character of robber Rumcajs. Academic painter Radek Pilař designed his image. In the premises of the chateau there is an exposition devoted to him and his work.
Traditional festival "Jičín - the town of fairy tales" is held here every year in September and offers wide range of different activities to its visitors.
