Lomnice nad Popelkou is a town situated below the peak of Tábor by the river of Popelka. The town is known for its traditional textiles and cookies production. A baroque chateau is situated in the top part of the square. Further you can find here a town hall from 19th century, a town museum housing exposition of local region history, ethnography, zoology etc. Other interesting sights are a chapel of St. Jan Baptist, a wooden bell tower and half-timbered houses in the part called Karlov (memorial zone).
The junction in the bottom part of the square is our starting point. You will follow the red track in direction Tábor. You have to cross a railway twice and you will reach the Calvary that starts by the well of Křížovka where you can also see a statue of Jesus Christ healing Lazar. On the top of the peak of Tábor (678 m) there is a baroque church from 1704, a tourist cottage and an outlook tower.
Now you have two possibilities how to get to the village of Morcinov. The more difficult and longer way leads you down to viaduct near Nový Svět and goes up again to the castle ruin of Kozlov. The shorter track leads directly to Košov and Morcinov.
The both tracks first follow red and blue marks. Following the shorter one on red, you will pass a stone Allain´s Cross. Kamil Rohan, owner of the estate, let it place here as a memorial of his brother Allain who died during horse races. You will pass a junction of red and yellow tracks. The red marks will lead you through the village of Košov and you will meet green and yellow track that will lead you to the edge of Morcinov where the longer and shorter ways meet.
The more difficult track turns left below Tábor and follows blue marks to Allain´s Tower. It used to serve as a lookout tower but nowadays it is in a bad condition. Below the tower you will meet yellow track. Keep following the blue one until you reach the viaduct near Nový Svět. You will turn right at the junction behind the viaduct and follow the green track. You will go up a hill and then walk down until you reach the ruins of castle of Kozlov. In the woods you can find remains of its walls. The green track will lead you to the junction at the edge of Morcinov. From here you have to follow the red track in direction Rovensko pod Troskami. After crossing the highest point of a wide ridge you will be offered fabulous views of the Bohemian Paradise. Below the ridge turn right. Red-marked cycling path will lead you to Popelka where you will meet the red and green track again. Following the green you will pass a ski area and reach the town of Lomnice again.
